A terrifying amount of people use instagram these days

I just did a tag search here on tumblr for ‘Eastbourne’, the town that I’m (sort of) from and there were loads of really nice pictures taken of areas I recognise from having walked through them countless times, but all of them had, in my opinion, been spilt by the photographers using instagram to take them.

The scenery is beautiful as it is. You could take a normal digital picture and upload it and it would look amazing. Using instagram does not add gravitas. In fact it makes me annoyed, because you’re taking an area I know and reducing it to yet another boring picture in your instagram album on your bloody iPhone.

(I hate instagram in case you hadn’t noticed. It makes me angry that an app that makes digital photographs look like they’ve been taken using a polaroid camera can flourish whilst the actual polaroid company goes bankrupt)

I have sunburn at the moment.

So many people came into the shop I work in tonight and said *puts on snarky voice* ‘Been in the sun have you?’

In the end I just started saying *puts on surprised voice* ‘Yeah! How did you know?’

This is the best video in existence. Your argument is invalid.

wait what is this

This was worth the effort of opening up an incognito window and signing into my personal Tumblr to reblog, just saying.

OH MY GOD

OH MY FUCKING GOD

JOHN BARROWMAN WHAT ARE YOU

WTF just happened? WTH did I just watch?

I’ve often wondered what star of stage and screens (both big and small) John Barrowman gets up to in his spare time. I thought it might be studying musicals in preparation for his next part, collecting Dr Who action figures, walking his dogs, maybe even beginning work on a new issue of his hit series of memoirs.

It turns out he does this.

I always feel really proud when I see GIFs of John Richardson

Not to sound like a hipster, but I’ve been a fan of his for years. I first discovered him in 2007 when he was a jobbing stand-up with a job as Russell Howard’s sidekick on BBC 6Music (a radio station in the uk for any americans reading).

Since then he’s left the radio station, written a book and turned into a big, famous TV comedian.

This is one of the first times a niche thing (or person) that I like has become huge. I always thought I’d be annoyed, but I just feel proud of him. He’s my favourite comedian, and now other people get to see/hear him too.

Summer Challenges

Every summer I like to try something new. The most recent example of this is (obviously) last summer, when I decided I would start video blogging. And that worked out pretty well for me. I don’t have many subscribers, but I enjoy doing it and I’ve begun to actually get to know a few other video bloggers. In short a complete success.

I feel that one should be improving oneself at all time. If not but having actual lessons then by lifestyle choices. Eating healthily, reading books or newspapers, whatever one may choose to do.

Which brings me on to this summer. I’ve just bought a longboard. I’ve never long boarded before, and I was always terrible at skateboarding, but I’ve decided its something I want to be able to do. As a teenager I was always jealous of those people who would bomb along the seafront on their skateboards. They just looked so cool but, despite the fact that I could cruise quite happily on my own board I could never perform any tricks, which is the whole point of skateboarding.

Longboards seem to me to be designed precisely for me. There is no emphasis on performing tricks, many longboarders are happy simply to cruise along- demonstrating their ‘carving’ skills. With the weather we’ve been having recently I can’t imagine anything more relaxing than cruising along the seafront on my new longboard. Plus there don’t seem to be many longboarders in the town where I live, which suits my own desire to be slightly different to other people.

I don’t even really care that I’m probably about 4 years too old to start this new hobby. It looks fun, and I’m going to try it.

Here’s hoping I don’t die.

Guys.

Guys.

It occurred to me today. That the average length of an American television show is

(minus commercials)

42 minutes.

Guys.

The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything

is

TELEVISION

ok so I realise this is off topic but WTF. You have 18 minutes of ads per show in america? Literally a third of your content is created by advertisers? That’s fucked up. I’m always annoyed that we have 10 minutes per hour in the UK but fucking hell. 18 minutes!

I made a video. It’s quite good I think. But then I’m an incredibly arrogant man…
